I finished Catch Me a Cowboy by Katie Lane the other day. It's the 3rd book in the series and definitely did not disappoint. I wasn't sure how I'd like it without the main characters from the 2 other books being more front and center, but Billy (Bubba) Wilkes and Shirlene Dalton were definitely great leads.

Not only did poor Shirlene lose her husband but due to some bad financial management, she loses her house as well. Now, part of me didn't feel sorry for her. She had all that money that she just spent and spent and spent, knowing there wasn't anymore where all that came from. And yet she didn't stop spending. Part of me wanted to say, "Well, it's your own fault." But I know that sounds heartless. Another part of me feels sorry for her. She was depressed after the love of her life died and tried to fill the void with material things. And it just didn't work.

Bubba has let a family legend sour him on a group of people who've come to love him and trust him. People who didn't know they didn't have a chance as far as he was concerned. Or at least... that's how it started. Bubba didn't plan to have them grow on him. He didn't plan to become friends with them. And he didn't plan to fall in love with the spitfire living next door to him. Or the baggage that she picked up when she went home.

I loved Shirlene. She was definitely down and out, but put her heart and soul in to not letting anyone find out. She was determined to right the situation she was in no matter the cost. You've gotta give her credit for her guts and her persistance. And Bubba. He's full of surprises, some good some not, but his heart is the size of Texas. Even if he refuses to believe it.

This was a great book. A quick read and a fun one. I can't wait for book number four to come out later this year (I think)! I would recommend this to anyone over the age of 18 as it is an adult romance novel. But especially for adults who find themselves wanting to be swept away by love... or an incredibly good looking cowboy.

I love Katie Lane and this Deep in the Heart of Texas series. The story line is great, the characters are interesting and fun and loving. The chemistry was there between them but there was a little hear missing for me but I hardly noticed it. I still loved it and would recommend it to anyone! Its a fun read and I went through them quickly because I was excited to know what happened!!!!
Catch Me a Cowboy is book three in the A Deep in the Heart of Texas series by Katie Lane, and I have to say it is my favorite so far. This one made me laugh, cry, and touched my heart in a way that you want from a good book. Like the other two the people in this book come alive. You feel like you know them.

Shirlene Dalton had it all until her much older husband died suddenly of a heart attack. Her world quickly is falling apart. She did so much retail therapy that now she is homeless. The bank has foreclosed on her big mansion, so she is forced to return to the trailer she grew up in on the wrong side of the tracks. What she is not prepared for is to have 4 orphans living in the trailer or the sexy neighbor that stirs things in her she though died with her husband.

Billy "Bubba" Wilkes came to Bramble with on purpose, and that was to wipe it off the map. He thinks Shirlene is nothing but a self-centered gold-digger, and certainly doesn't like that he is attracted to her. He uses his good ol' boy persona to get close to many of the townspeople and to drive Shirlene crazy. But to his surprise Shirlene isn't anything like he thought she was, and he falls for her quick. But will she and the town forgive him for the things he has done in the name of revenge??

I absolutely adored this book!! It was written in a way that you are captured by the story, and it doesn't let you go till you reach the end. Once I started it I couldn't stop. I am in love with the town of Bramble and its town full of busy bodies. The scenes with Shirlene and the kids grab onto your heart!! And Billy is one smoking hot & quick-witted redneck!! I can't wait for her to put out the next on in this series, and I will be looking at her other books for sure!! Hope y'all enjoy this one as much as I did!!
This was the third book I've read in Katie Lane's series, "Deep in the Heart of Texas." Each book has been enjoyable and a quick read. I'm planning on reading each of the books in this series for two reasons The characters and stories have enough diversity, that I'm still interested in reading more, AND I'm interested in seeing how Katie Lane develops as an author, over time.
Shirlene Dalton had it all. She was married to the richest guy in Bramble, TX and spent money like there was no tomorrow. But when he up and dies suddenly with his company on the verge of bankruptcy which also means the town is in jeopardy, Shirlene keeps on spending to get over her grief and pays no attention that she has no way of paying off loans and ignores warning's from the bank until she is evicted from her mansion. Shirlene didn't start off in life with a silver spoon in her mouth. She grew up dirt poor living in a trailer with no father and an absentee alcoholic mother. When she is evicted she has no other place to go but back to that trailer. Her neighbor Bubba Wilkes, who she thinks is one the dumbest and biggest rednecks in Texas.

Bubba Wilkes thinks Shirlene is nothing but a gold digging woman. And it also turns out Bubba is who he says he is and he has had nothing but revenge on his mind against the folks of Bramble, TX.

But both Bubba and Shirlene have surprises in store for them. Shirlene realizes she has four homeless kids that been living in her mobile home ranging from 17 to less than a year. She buts heads with the kids yet cannot make herself turn them in even though she doesn't have a dollar to her name nor really knows anything about taking care of kids. Bubba even though he came to Bramble with set the town up to fail has found himself really liking the town folks and also beginning to see that Shirlene has more to her that what he first thought.

We go on this emotional journey with Bubba (who is really Billy) and Shirlene which includes some tears and heartbreak. You find yourself rooting for these two to work everything out and get there HEA.
